A low key city steeped in the arts, a city under construction with a skyline dominated but towers and cranes. Our Hop on-off bus included a harbour cruise which took us to the Toronto islands - a gentle backwater sitting beside the airport. Such contrasts!
We also wandered through a maze of glass houses in Allen Gardens and peered into the private parts of flowers.
Strange neighbours
The old and the new!
That's the runway poking out into the harbour. I love the skyline.
The Toronto Islands are popular recreation spots but also provide havens for wild life and a safe flight path for migrating birds and butterflies
Looking back towards Toronto’s Port
Perfect spot looking out over Lake Ontario. Crab cakes and crispy Brussel sprouts with Parmesan fries and truffle dressing. Listening to 60s and 70s musics!
Trams here too
One of the glasshouses in the Allen Gardens
The gardens had an unusual collection of art installations. This one ‘Bone Thunderbird’ is made of deer bones, copper wire and fabric.
A delicate Cactus flower
Queen of the Night - quite a monster.
Dainty bits of fluff like tulle and seed pearls
Flowers pretending to be feathers
